Barolo and Another Enoteca

Friday, October 20, 2006

The village of Barolo’s enoteca has tables and chairs to make research of Barolo and Roero Arnese as comfortable as possible for the hard–working and thorough scholar.

This is Barolo castle, which contains the enoteca in the photo above. After no longer being needed as a defensive structure, it became a school for poor children. Today it is the meeting place of the city council as well as home to the enoteca.

Another rainy day, another enoteca. In the 21st century, castles in Piemonte have become important again. Barolo’s castle is in excellent condition and is worth a visit.

Next—Alba, home of the white truffle.
