Paris

Friday–Sunday May 23–25, 2003

Upon arriving in Paris, we went to stay in Saint–Germain–des–Prés.

For dinner the first night there we ate sardines with tomato and eggplant; asparagus in a pastry shell with beets with ginger mayonnaise; grilled veal with carrots; guinea fowl boned and stuffed with cabbage, celery root and raisins. For dessert there were strawberries with vanilla cream and mascarpone sorbet.

Another night we ate slices of smoked duck breast with green beans; cucumber salad with cream and vinegar’ coq au vin; and braised beef with carrots.

The last evening we ate crab soup; white asparagus with hollandaise sauce; beef with carrots; and chicken cooked in salt with morel sauce.

The banks of the Seine in Paris are a Unesco World Heritage site.

While in Paris, we visited serval wonderful museums including the Picasso Museum and the d’Orsay, plus we visited the beautiful stained glass chapel at Sainte-Chappelle.

We moved on to the 6th Arrondisement in Paris, where we stayed for three days before departing from Paris Charles De Gaulle for London Heathrow and then on to San Francisco.
