Mont-Saint-Michel

This is a famous view of the Abbey. There were so many tourists and pilgrims inside that appreciating the whole business from a distance was as good as it got. Still, MSM sits on a protected spot: there is only way to get to it, a causeway. Getting to it from the sea does not look like a good idea, as the tides are ferocious and a lot of the ground exposed at low tide is quick sand.

Would we recommend someone go out of their way to visit the site? No. However, it is a Unesco World Heritage site.

We got on the super highway and drove north to Normandy to see Mont–Saint–Michel and a few scenic towns in Normandy.

Next—we return the rental car in Rennes and then take the TGV to Paris Montparnasse.
