We arrived in Sydney after an overnight flight and immediately went to the Botanic Garden to get the blood moving after the long flight (7,400 miles/11,900 kilometers) from San Francisco.
We had visited the garden in 2005, our last trip to Sydney, and liked it a lot. There is a good view of the opera house and harbor bridge. The jacaranda are in bloom.
We walked by bustling Circular Quay. And returned to the great aquarium in Darling Harbor where we had lunch.
Besides the Botanic Garden and opera house, we walked around near the old post office and CBD, took a coastal walk, and visited a museum near the Customs House..
Next—Ayers Rock in the Northern Territory. However, we learned there was a Qantas strike and we had to scramble to find an alternative way to get there.
