A Bit Here, A Bit There

A Bit Here, a Bit There

We did most of Walk #31, Upper Rockridge East, on New Year’s Day. Here’s a festive metal and wood penguin at 6189 Contra Costa Road wishing passersby a Merry Christmas.

Yesterday, we did a blend of Glenview, Walk #23 and Trestle Glen and Piedmont, Walk #25. Here’s the map of the area around Glendome Circle (indicated with an arrow).

At the point of the arrow is a chicken coop with about a dozen chickens. The owner has posted photographs of each bird, along with their names. They are friendly and always come up running to us. There is a sign that says it is ok to feed white bread to them. If you go, take some! The chickens are always hungry, fun to watch and some make wonderful sounds.

When you are on Glendome Circle, you can look across the Trestle Glen to hills on the other side. The first time we saw this view, we knew how Glenview got its name!

Today we did a blend of Trestle Glen and Lakeshore and Trestle Glen and Crocker Highlands, Walks #26 and #27. The San Francisco 49ers are playing Green Bay’s Packers (temperature, 5F) and there were not many people out on the sidewalks, despite the 60F temperature.

Had three walks in the last five days, working one in on New Year’s Day.

Next—Who knows, Codornices Park? Maybe we’ll cover Berryman, too. Maybe. Sounds familiar....
