Mitla

Mitla was the last pre–Hispanic religious center, and was inhabited when the Spaniards arrived.Mitla is about 30 miles from Oaxaca. It was founded about 100 AD by the Zapotecs, and was inhabited when the Spanish arrived in 1521. Yes, it is hot and dry here.
With only stone tools the Zapotecs decorated the buildings with these wonderful designs.
Before we returned to Oaxaca, we stopped at the lovely town of Santa Maria del Tule.
