Miami Area

Saturday–Tuesday March 3–6, 2012

Here is a view at sunset of a section of the beach in Miami Beach.

The city has a nice path between the sand and the hotels.

The Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is really worth a visit. It has the largest collection of palm tree species anywhere. The Madagascar display is eye catching. So too is this flowering plant.

We also visited a bird zoo, Jungle Island (formerly, Parrot Jungle). They not only have a lot of parrots, they have the world’s only trained Cassowary. Below, the big bird has an apple in her beak.

There were other animals like this nice spider monkey.

Here is a complete map of most of the place we visited on this trip.

We arrived in Miami in the early evening, and over the next two days visited a bird zoo, the beach and a great botanic garden.

Next—Home via ATL airport, 2,733 miles.
