Brisbane

Upon leaving Heron Island, we flew from Gladstone to Brisbane to see Australian animals and to have a walk through the city’s large and well maintained botanical gardens. We went to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane to see koalas. Above is one that likes to pose. Looks like a Qantas ad!
There are two koalas here, the mother and her baby. Both are doing what koalas excel at—sleeping.
Lone Pine also has other native animals, including large cassowary birds, kangaroos, and wombats. This one sleeps upside down.
Click on the wombat’s photograph to visit the park’s web site.
A couple of wallabies plotting about how to relieve the tourist of anything edible.
Next—Brisbane to Auckland to Los Angeles and home; 8,200 miles.
